Health benefits of pumpkin seeds

What are the health benefits of pumpkin seeds? But first watch this video on
how to roast pumpkin seeds?

So pumpkin comes to mind only on Halloween? The above video revived my interest into it today. It tells you how to oven roast pumpkin seeds?Having learned it you may be wondering about its health benefits. You don’t care! You take it for taste.
I don’t care ! I would still tell you about the health benefits
of pumpkin seeds. Its effect on prostate is supposedly the most interesting one.
A study in this regard was reported in 2006.It was done on rats. Forty adult Wistar rats were divided into five groups, including: one control group, rats treated with vehicle only, one group treated with Testosterone-Prazosin(T-P), and two groups of T-P-treated rats, one receiving orally pumpkin seed oil alone and one group receiving orally pumpkin seed oil combined with Phytosterol-F.
A series of subsequent procedures followed. And finally the
researchers concluded “Pumpkin seeds oil alone or combined with Phytosterol-F can block the T-P-induced increases in prostatic weight-to-body weight ratio and protein synthesis.”

This isn’t an isolated study.More such study might have been carried out.The result of this all is that it has been much talked about that pumpkin seeds could prevent the bad effect of testosterone on prostate in older men.Yes I am talking of that notorious benigh prostatic hypertrophy(BPH).The safest conclusion that can be derived from these studies would be ‘pumpkin seeds are beneficial to the prostate’.

Is that all? Pumpkin seeds are a good source of iron, zinc, essential fatty acids, potassium, and magnesium. Since the essential fatty acid, like Omega-3 fatty acids ,aren't produced by the body, you need to take it in through your diet.
Pumpkin seeds and pumpkin oil are good sources for these.
Pumpkin seeds are one of the good sources of phytosterols as well.Phytosterol is said to help lower blood cholesterol. Those “cholesterol-lowering foods” in the market are actually processed to include a lot of phytosterols.
You don’t have to wait for autumn. As against pumpkin ,pumpkin seeds are available year round.
Good day!
