Here I am sharing my experience with a homeopathic doctor who came to my OPD for consultation regarding cataract surgery. In the discussion i will refer myself as ME and him as HD.
HD: Doctor i want myself get operated for cataract.
ME: But in my personal opinion i dont think you really need it as the cataract is not too dense to cause much of a problem.
HD: Doctor now i must tell you that i am a practasing homeopathic doctor.I am facing problem in reading books and newspapers.
ME: OK here you go that is just an age related problem; you will just need a presbyopic correction and you will be fine. But right now you said that you are a practising homeopathic doctor; so some patients of cataract must be visiting to you also, so what do you do to them?
HD: Ya a lot of them, and i prescribe medications to them.
ME: Oral or topical?
HD: Oral, and it has to be taken once a month
ME: But from my knowledge i know that a drug prescribed orally has very poor penetration into eyes.
HD: So what, thats our concept.
ME: Ok tell me what happend to the patients; did cataract resolved or what?
HD: Hmm a sort of partial, but i know they get dissolved. That is what our books say.
ME: Did you see this happening in any one of your cases?
HD:No actually they dont return after a few months.
ME: They must have gone for some other advice and you thought you relieved them. Dont you think it could cost them their vision.
HD: Doctor, I am not here to debate over my therapy with you.
ME: But i seek an answer from you on the part of those poor patients; why did not you bother to discuss the short comings of you therapy with your patients? OK, tell me if you were so confident about your drug then why did not you try it on yourself?
HD: Actually i took 2 doses and then i found that it was not working.
ME:So dont you think by not referring them to us you harmed your patients?
HD: Try to understand doctor.
And after this i did not prolong my discussion any further.I am not criticising homeopathy here but i just wanted to know how the drug worked and he knew nothing about that.

Homeopathic doctor vs an allopathic one?

It's quite common for conventional medicine to dismiss homeopathy (and many other complementary regimes) as 'just a placebo'. Now, sometime conventional (allopathic) medicine is just the ticket --- BUT there are other occasions where alternatives - 'placebos' or not! - can be just as effective, especially where there is a psycho-somatic element in the disorder (e.g. depression and mood disorders)
Doesn't have to be one or the other - it can be both!

Good post in the sense showing the same old allo vs homoeo...i wud like to add that every science has its limitation...we must know the limits..as in this case actually i dont know whether the HD (homoeo dr.) was a qualified one or not.....doing homoeopathy is very easy but genuine homoeopathy is very difficult...i have seen changes & even cure when n where these allopaths have no other option....homoeopathy treats the whole patient not only a disease...todays science has its limitations but if the medicines work it means there is something....we homoeopaths have provided with the tool & we are using it....may be in the coming years modern science accept its theory...but its better to get cured in the whole extent rather than to eliminate a disease....i am treating & treated alot allopathic families when they have no option....aging of lens can be delayed using homoeo medicines....really homoeopathy is the best in disease proper cases..in case of SKIN,DIGESTIVE SYSTEM,URINARY SYSTEM,PSYCHO-SOMATIC DISORDERS,OUTGROWTHS etc. only n only homoeopathy works....
...can u promise if any one will tell you about the benefits of homoeopathy in any disease you will certainly post it here too.

hello dr shahid
like any other science homeopathy has it's limitations. the fact that u came across this homeopath who knew nothing about his own medicines,u just came across a bad doctor.this man would have been the same had he been an allopath.the conventional medicines too have such kind of doctors.homeopathy is a beautiful science. It's time that u guys recognize this fact.
