Allergy to gloves

Pic-Disposable nitrile glove

I have a friend who did a postgraduate course in orthopaedic surgery but now plans to leave surgical branch because he is allergic to glove.Because of an increase in latex allergy among health professionals , there has been an increasing move for medical supplies of gloves made of non-latex materials such as vinyl or nitrile rubber. However, these gloves have not yet replaced latex gloves in surgical procedures, as gloves made of alternate materials generally do not fully match the fine control or greater sensitivity to touch available with latex surgical gloves. High-grade non-latex gloves (such as nitrile gloves) also cost two or more times the price of their latex counterparts, a fact that has often prevented switching to these alternate materials in cost-sensitive environments, such as many hospitals.

I work in the environmental field an was have always used nitrile gloves because latex is actually porous to some chemicals.

Perhaps a blended compound of latex/nitrile could help.

Sorry to hear about this student leaving his field of expertise. Hopfully something else will fulfill him. My husband is a dentist and he cannot use latex gloves when he works on me. I am very sensitive as well.
