This week tears rolled down my cheeks twice out of compassion.First it was after viewing the youtube video of Neda of iran and today its the news of sudden death of Michael Jackson.The following words of his brother Jermaine Jackson at the news conference “May Allah be with you, Michael, always,” reverbrates through my mind.Never ever thought this man would ever convert to islam.
The news is that he died of cardiac arrest.The cause of the cardiac arrest would be known only after the autopsy.Cardiac arrest requires immediate intervention.Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation is to be carried out.

Note:new chest compression ratio is 30:2 but the procedure is the same.
A few year back my mother woke me up.I heard noises at the door.A girl from the neighbourhood was at the door.She looked upset.My mother told me something has happened to her 18 year old brother and they want me to see him.I went to her home.Her mother and a 8 year old brother were crying.I checked for the radial pulse- absent,carotid pulse at the neck- absent.His eyeballs were drawn up.Pupils didnt react to light.I realized his body was getting cold.He was dead but I didnt have the courage to break the news.I was just a medical student then.I sent a call for my senior- a paediatrician.He came within minutes, he examined the body and found an injury mark on a finger.It was the entry wound of the electric shock.It was a case of cardiac arrest following electric shock.It was morning and he had been dead half of the night.I went to the mosque to offer my evening(Maghrib) prayer .The mosque was empty.I realized it was morning.I returned to my room and offered two rakat namaz.

May MJ rest in peace. This does show that heart attacks can happen to anyone. Of course, MJ was 50 yrs old, but still, since heart disease is becoming common, people should be taught warning signs and how to deal with them. Perhaps, taking a CPR class should be mandatory for graduating high schoolers as part of social service commitments (which already are mandatory in some schools).
